I haven't posted a lot about pregnancy, but it seems like a lot has changed in the past month! Once I got over the sickness of the first few months, things felt pretty normal. I didn't really feel pregnant, and had to remind myself that there was a baby growing inside! But month 5 really brought a lot of excitement and the new year being here brought on the reality that we are going to be parents...soon!
The first big change came when we felt our baby kick for the first time. WOW what a neat feeling! I know, I've been told that it's fun now, and it might get a bit old after 3 more months, but for now, I am eating it up! I love to feel the little flutters, and sometimes harder kicks that come mostly at night. I couldn't wait for Matt to be able to feel it, and he can now :) I love to lay next to him with his hand on my stomach... we lay in silence and wait... and then jump and giggle every time a kick comes. It's wonderful.
The next exciting event was our last ultrasound. I was actually nervous to find out the gender, I don't know why. I was so anxious though I could hardly sleep the night before! Everyone asked me over and over what I "thought/felt" I was having... um... I had no idea! I just knew that as long as the heart was still beating and all the parts and organs were in place, I would be thrilled, regardless of the gender! Well, the hour of truth came and we found out that we are having a GIRL. I was kind of in awe and didn't have much to say... Matt had to let it sink in because he was rooting for an army of boys :) I had to reassure him that he could have as much influence on her as me... I may put bows in her hair, but he can still take her fishing and dress her in pink camo if he really wants to! All-in-all we couldn't be more excited! It's so fun to be able to refer to HER as our little girl and imagine every second of the day what she will be like.
We were grateful to see from the ultrasound that she is a growing girl, but we could have guessed on our own, because her MOM is a growing girl. It's like the last few weeks did wonders on this pregnant belly. It exploded. haha
We are so looking forward to meeting our little princess!
