Easter n' stuff

First off, all you cake critics... close one eye before you look! Our dearest Jessica B. is getting married in a few short weeks and for some unknown reason she has asked me to make her a wedding cake... yes I too was very skeptical of the thought because I've never done such a task, or anything like it. But a few weeks ago I gave this fondant game a try and came up with this. It's far from perfect, but I'm pleased with my first attempt. Once I worked through the frustrations of it all, it was pretty fun. I'm terrified to try it again for actual display at a reception... wish me luck :)
In other news...

At our house we don't do the Easter bunny, we do the Easter Ogre :) Okay I'm kidding, but I think that's what he resembles... in the cutest way of course.



My mom is a sweetheart and made a delicious Easter feast along with festive table decorations.

I made sugar cookies to go along with it because Easter shapes are super fun to decorate.


The best part of Easter Sunday however, besides church services, was our visit to the cemetary. We are lucky to live close enough to visit graves of our loved grandpa and sister, and are blessed to know that we will be reunited again. We were able to visit together as a family about the resurrection and Heavenly Father's plan for us, particularly as families.

My heart is full when I think about my Savior Jesus Christ and contemplate the gift that He gave us in sacrificing His own life. It is because of Him, and His triumph over death that I have the opportunity to live with my family forever.

What a remarkable truth that is, and I'm grateful that Easter helps us remember how blessed we truly are.
