While getting ready for my grandma Risenmay's birthday celebration, we were listening to the song "Ice cream and cake" and teased grandma that she had to dance for her cake and ice cream. Well, sure enough she did :) What a great lady she is, such a beautiful, refined, strong example, yet not afraid to have some fun!
The traditional "Sawdust Dig" is a treasured memory. Literally. ha We dig for money in a pile of sawdust, sounds so crazy, but it's so fun!

First Grandpa loads up the pile of sawdust with a whole lotta quarters, nickels, dimes, and a few pennies (which you trade in for dollars later)

It was kinda cute, the boys did it one handed since Brandon had a broken arm :)

Then we are split up into groups (ex: Uncles, single boys, kids under 10, etc.) Each group has about three minutes to dig in and find what they can! (Grandpa reloads the sawdust with coins each time so each group gets a fair shot)
But we save the very best for last! The aunts! These four sisters are a hoot. They are the experts since they have been doing this since they were little. We always get a good laugh out of it.
So those were the highlights for me! I love my extended family, and I'm so lucky that we are all so close to each other. It doesn't matter the age or where we live, cuz we all grew up together making great memories that tie us together!

I want to be a Risenmay! Do you ever think Grandpa Walker would give us money? haha! What a fun reunion. Hearing your mom's voice made me homesick for Walker reunions.
