A Story of Birds

Remember how I have recently been fascinated with nature? Well today really filled my quota! We went to visit my Grandma and when I looked out her back door, I saw this on her deck.

Quite the nest huh! And right on her little table, I thought that was rather incredible. It gets better... because the next time I looked out, ma and pa bird were keeping a pretty close eye out..

especially ma... which meant, there must be something in that nest.

So when ma and pa left to get food, I crept closer... and inside found newly hatched birds, something I've never seen before. I thought this was the neatest thing!

until they started to stir...

and pretty soon this precious display was before me! SO COOL. Oh the miracle of nature, I love it.

Mel, those pictures turned out so well. You'll have to come down every day to visit Grandma and watch their progress. It was fun being together today. A. Jeanette

Way to have your camera on you-those were some great pictures. I saw something sad on the Discovery channel about birds one time: 3 birds had hatched, each opened their tiny beaks when momma bird came with food... 2 of the birds hogged all the food and pushed the little runt out of the way each time, slowly the malnourished bird got weaker and weaker until it could hardly move. So then what happened? His 2 older brothers ate him for dinner that night :( Sad huh! I was disgusted after I saw that. So I guess you better keep an eye out on those birdies and make sure they all get their fair share of worms and bugs!
